It was now time to question the system that drives the world around us. Fascinated by the works and ideas of Karl Marx, what I could make out of the worldly transactions be it social or comercial, money was the driving force, whose possession was critical to survive. It is acceptable till the time money is utilized to survive but the problem arises with its accumulation and its investment to accumulate more. That we see decides our worth! It seems to make what we are as humans. Our success and failure is measured by the yardstick of accumulated wealth. This stimulates a rat race and that too one which doesn't let everyone enter. The game is run by the mighty and the powerful who sell the dream to all the rest that they can be one of them. They name it competition, a scam that justifies annihilation of culture, morality and environment to achieve wealth. That is what is at the core of misery it seems.
The idea of socialism and communism as presented by Marx provides a viable alternative. The world has seen its implementation but not quite, as it worked to a limited extent. For many the idea has been done and dusted. However, I think, with the dearth of ideas to reinvent the system, shrinking profits, growing inequality, destruction of environment, climate change time seems to be nearing for Capitalism to die its own death. Let us make no mistake to think it has already come for we might have to go through a lot of hardships for the times to come.
A brilliant write up!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much

DeleteWhereas I agree that the system that runs the world is rooted in greed, I dont see communism in its raw form as a healthy alternative. The fundamental goal of communism to achieve parity is great and any system must be built on the foundations of economic equality but at the same time, the laws of human nature, lessons from evolution, history and empirical research must also inform our dreams of healthy societies of future.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your appreciation and critical views as well. Shall try to come up with some suggestions for a new world order.
DeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteBeing an economist, I can debate and prove to a great extent that Marxism is in classical book looks good but humans with their ANIMAL INSTINCT spoilt it and have given it a disrepute.
The biggest flaw in it was in order to implement its EQUITY it used worst means of suppressing freedom.
And it's vice versa with Capitalism.
It gives freedom but no equity.
Yet capitalism is better as not only it preaches freedom but by and large practices it too but you can't expect equality in it.
Still I will support capitalism.
Mixed economy is just an eyewash.
Humans by nature spoil the existing system.
So humans are good in playing victim cards.
When no freedom, they ask for it.
When no equity, they ask for it.
And start playing their being victims to suit them.
Only BULLESHA is the solution.
Read him.
He will give you solace which no system will.
Thanks for your critical comments. Freedom in Capitalism is the most ironic part as it is farcical. True freedom would be when the one who puts in her/his labor has control over the means of production. The argument that human beings spoil everything is a classical one provided by the proponents of Capitalism to keep the masses disallusioned. Human beings are surely capable to orient their efforts with the right education and training. I have faith in humanity.
ReplyDeleteBulleshah and like are definitely a help to uplift a human being spiritually!

DeleteSince all humans are different in skills and talents then how can we achieve equality?
DeleteOff course minimum income concept ensures minimum sustainability.
We are different mentally and physically so the very concept of equality is perplexing.
Your good, pure soul is crying for that but cruel realities of life won't let it happen.
My heart too goes out to the deprived but if I am not pragmatic my ism will collapse like pack of cards.
I propose basic fundamental rights for life and in the rest, not equality but empathy and state's coming out in time of distress and hardships.
